The Children of CEA

You may be wondering a few things…how do we find the children that come to the facility? Do they get to go back home often/for holidays? Do all the children attend school? Why do some children leave the facility?

CEA kids - Feb 2024

As a licensed and registered residential care facility we have a great deal of regulations we must follow. This includes regulations for the admission of our clients (the children), what is provided for them, and the discharge (leaving the facility) … if that occurs.

We get referrals from local city governments/government officials, schools, as well as concerned citizens. We then send our licensed social workers to do a case study that will gather all the necessary information about the child, their family, their income, the health and behavior of the child, and any other pertinent information we can gather.

Based on that report, we then decide if we think the proposed client will do well with the programs and services we offer. If accepted, it is a legal process where we take over guardianship for the child while at the facility. The children do not, except for extremely specific circumstances, get to go back home but their families may visit and do a monthly facetime phone call.

All our children are required to attend school to remain at the facility.

Some children are not able/willing to adapt to life at the facility. Perhaps they find the rules too difficult to follow, or they have other mental/physical problems we were not made aware of, or they let things influence them to become unfocused and want to just do whatever they want. The discharge is also, just like the admission, a legal process of turning them back over to the care of their families.

We strive our very best to provide everything they need to be successful in life but not all are able to see this process through. The work is not easy and requires a great deal of patience and persistence. If you have other questions, please feel free to contact us!

Our Next Project!

CEA staff housing project

As we are slowly increasing the number of children in our care, we also need more staff/staff housing. Overnight accommodation in the children’s homes is limited. Many of our staff stay on site 24/7 except for their off days.

We also occasionally have visitors that wish to stay overnight.

Our next building project is some much-needed staff/visitor housing. Our architect has finished the technical drawings for our staff/visitor housing project soon to be built.

The building will have 4 studio type units and 2 larger hotel room size units for a total of 6 separate units. We intend to begin this project in the next few weeks.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

4Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
