The success of our mission at Casa Esperanza of Angels vastly depends on the goodwill and support we garner from the surrounding communities in the area. Since our mission was established, we’ve been regularly conducting outreach activities designed to help impoverished families and children residing in communities adjacent to the CEA facility.
Our community outreach events, thus far, have benefited over 50 families and more than a hundred children from the most indigent communities in Tanjay City. Starting in 2016, we have distributed groceries, food packs, vegetable produce from our own gardens, school supplies, clothing, and other essentials to people and children in need, in three outreach campaigns.
We conduct these events regularly and if you’re interested in supporting these actions as donors or volunteers, please get in touch with us today. We also need your help to complete this construction project related to our Outreach Program:
• Multipurpose church of Christ Pavilion
• Planned Outreach Activities: To be announced

Helping Alleviate Poverty in the Countryside
A very large percentage of the people living in the hinterlands and coastal areas of Tanjay City subsist on less than a dollar or two per day for an average family size of three children. They live in makeshift dwellings that are vulnerable to the elements as the area is constantly buffeted by tropical storms during the monsoon season from August to February. These marginalized communities often depend on small scale farming and fishing with the occasional construction work thrown in to make a living but without capital or skills, their living conditions stagnate well below the poverty threshold.
CEA community outreach activities often include:
• Distribution of grocery items, food packages, hygiene kits, toys, clothing, footwear, and school supplies to indigent families.
• Sharing of vegetable produce and fruits from our own gardens from within the facility.
• Games and fun activities for the children conducted by youth volunteers
• Community meal or snacks
• Prayers, Bible tracks, and short inspirational messages from mission staff, guests, and public officials
Future outreach activities will include the above-mentioned activities, as well as other components once we find the funding and partners for these services:
• Medical missions
• Dental missions
• Eye clinics
To date, the first congregation to have partnered with us is the Ooltewah church of Christ congregation in Chattanooga, Tennessee through one of their ministers, our friend Larry Judd. Clothes made by kind-hearted women from their congregation were distributed during our last community outreach event to the delight of the mothers and children in attendance.
If your congregation is interested in partnering with us in future outreach activities, please get in touch with us. We are more than happy to work with you in helping our less fortunate brethren.
Beyond Charitable Giving
People from the United States visiting these communities for the first time are often amazed and dismayed by the sight of extreme poverty and can’t help but wonder at how fortunate people from the West are. As Christians, we are constantly exhorted to be merciful to the poor and help alleviate their plight.
Beyond charitable giving, however, we see our community outreach events at Casa Esperanza of Angels as essential components of our mission to spread the Gospel of Jesus and Christ in fulfillment of the Great Commission.
We consider our outreach activities as the clearest expression and demonstration of our love for Christ and for our fellow men. While we seek to alleviate their plight amidst the grinding poverty that they experience every day, we are also “tilling the soil” here to spread Christ’s message of salvation.
We firmly believe that when people see how much we care about them and how we work to help them, they will perceive our actions as a reflection of our Christian faith and will be more open to our message and invitation to actual evangelical meetings. We are currently working to establish the very first church of Christ congregation in Tanjay City.
In this context, our community outreach activities become effective vehicles to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in fulfillment of the Great Commission.
Let’s Work Together To Bring Hope to the Community
If you or your church congregation have programs that can be incorporated to our regular community outreach activities at Casa Esperanza of Angels mission, we’d love to hear about it. Our outreach program can make use of cash donations, clothing, footwear, books, school supplies, volunteer medical or dental services, and other forms of assistance. Looking forward to hear from you soon!
