Jellian and Albert are brother and sister from Dumaguete which is about 35 kilometers south of Tanjay City. We have them enrolled in school and they are getting settled in to the life at Casa Esperanza of Angels!

We are seeking sponsors for these two new children as well as others to be added soon. Please contact our mother, Pat Brown (pbrown10@gmail.com) to begin sponsoring a child today!

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony This Wednesday!

It’s finally happening!

We’re cutting the ribbon to signal the formal opening of Philippine Mission’s orphan care facility this Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 10:00 in the morning, Philippine standard time.

orphanage ribbon cutting ceremony

This event will be the culmination of our efforts in the past 4 years to build an orphanage in Tanjay City as a core program of our mission in the Philippines.

We wouldn’t have arrived at this point without God’s blessing and your continued support. To all our friends and supporters, THANK YOU for believing in our mission and supporting our work through all the challenges we’ve encountered along the way!

Invited guests include Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo, Vice-Governor Mark Macias, Tanjay City Mayor Reynaldo Concepcion, and other local executives and officials.

We’re looking forward to a successful ribbon cutting ceremony this Wednesday as we open our doors to orphaned, abandoned, abused, and other children in distress that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will entrust to our facility.

Construction Update: Second Children’s Building Taking Shape

electric power transformers
Newly-installed pole-mounted electric power transformers distributing power to the facility from the grid.
Our permanent 3 phase electrical supply to our facility is completed.

At current time we have only one of the 3 transformers energized. The other transformers will be energized as our electrical load increases when other structures are built.

This one time infrastructure task has proved to be quite challenging both logistically, as well as financially.

We had to gain right of way with landowners to install (11) 35’ poles and wiring to our property from the national highway, as well as prepare the facility itself for this permanent power.

The second children’s building being constructed in cooperation with Save Asian Souls foundation.

Work also continues on our second home in coordination with Save Asian Souls to house girls vulnerable to human trafficking. The home will have a maximum capacity of 24 girls. Here’s a new video about Save Asian Souls’ work:

CEA Children’s Library

We have set up a children’s library in the first children’s home with books and educational toys donated by Whitwell HS Interact Club , Suzette Manlosa and Family. Thank you so much for your support of our School Books and Study Materials project which is an integral part of our mission’s child education & youth ministry program!

We received in excess of 500 high quality books that the children are now enjoying! We also have many bibles available to the children/staff donated by our overseeing congregation, Red Boiling Springs church of Christ.

Temporary Church Structure

Church tent buildingWe will soon host worship services inside the mission facility as we continue to work on our core program — the establishment of a church of Christ congregation in Tanjay City.

We have contracted a welder to build us a 6 meter X 12 meter (18’x36’) tent to use as a temporary structure to have worship services (open to the public) while we continue raising funds to build the proposed multi-purpose pavilion. We are requesting donations toward getting it equipped with basic lighting, ceiling fans, and chairs.

If you are able to help we would greatly appreciate it! Once completed we hope to have secured adequate monthly support to hire a full time local minister to begin our outreach/evangelism program to the community!

Coming to the US soon!

By the time you receive this newsletter, Georgia and I will be making final preparations for our next visit to the USA!

We will be in the US (namely Texas) for nearly 3 months visiting with donors and congregations that support our mission, as well as some congregations we have not visited before.

We ask your prayers for our safe travels and for fruitful fund raising to further our mission efforts in the Philippines!

In deep gratitude,

Ronald and Georgia Brown
